You have been beautifully dropping into mindfulness, more and more, day by day. Experiencing deeper states of awareness on some days, lighter states on others, and some days the mental noise is just too loud or insistent. So it has been for thousands of years.
Said gently, even most seasoned meditators are — at some level — "trying" to meditate and become still. There can be a subtle agenda or attachment usually hidden from view that is striving for a favorable outcome. When we are operating from even that subtle form of egoic mind-made sense of self, we are not living from the heart or in reality.
